You’ll have to bear with me as this is my first pattern that I’ve ever written.  This scarf is super easy and works best with a solid color yarn.

I used worsted weight yarn and a size K hook.

Pattern stitch:  yo, insert hook in next stitch, yo, pull through stitch, yo, pull through first two loops, yo, insert hook in same stitch, yo, pull through stitch, yo, pull through first two loops, yo, pull through all three loops. (if anyone knows what this stitch is called, please let me know)

Chain 18

Row 1:  sc in second chain from hook, sc to end, chain 2, turn.

Row 2:  hdc in each sc to end, chain 2, turn.

Row 3:  hdc in each sc to end, chain 1, turn.

Row 4:  sc in each hdc to end, chain 3, turn.

Row 5:  work pattern stitch in each sc to end, chain 1, turn.

Repeat rows 1-5 until scarf is desired length.  Finish with a row of sc.

I used semi-precious gemstone chips, 26 gauge silver colored copper wire, size K crochet hook, and a magnetic clasp.

Here’s the pattern that I used:

String 30 beads (or chips) onto the wire before you start.

Make a slip knot, leaving a tail that is about 2-3 inches long.

Draw bead up to hook, yo, pull through like you would with yarn to make a chain. Repeat until there are 14 beads on the chain.

Draw up 2 beads and ch 1, turn

The next row is worked in single crochet. Insert hook in next ch from hook. Yo and pull through ch. Draw a bead to the hook, yo, pull through both loops. Repeat until you get to the end.

Finish off like you would with yarn.

There are now two “strings”. Wind them together a few times and clip one, saving it for later. Attach clasp to the remaining wire.

Use the piece that you clipped to attach the other side of the clasp to the other end of the bracelet.

Viola! That easy…

If you don’t want to tackle it yourself, they are available in the shop.

I’m still trying to decide if I want to do a reversable nursing cover using both patterns or if I want to do a solid lining. If I use a solid lining, I can get 2 covers out of the fabric that I bought. I’ll even have enough to make coordinating burp cloths. I kind of like the idea of a reversable cover, which I can still do even if one side is solid and not Amy Butler.

I really need to have some tags made for them too…

In the works right now…another coffee cozy. This one is also 100% cotton and red, with a swirly ribbed pattern. Hard to describe. It will be in the shop this evening.

I’ve created a new spreadsheet to help me keep track of my shop. I just want to make sure I pay our bank account back and I would like to know if I’m making a profit. I’m very close to breaking even, which is exciting. I didn’t think I would be in the black during my first month, but it looks like I will! Yay!

Anyone have any good secret santa ideas for guys? Something around the $20 mark.

All I did was to use worsted weight yarn (I used cotton) and cast on 36 stitches on size 7 dpns. I did a k2p2 rib for about 3 inches. Easy peasy…

If you don’t knit, you can buy them in the shop for $5. They make the perfect gift for your favorite coffee drinker.

I still haven’t had time to sew the t-shirt pants that I cut out the other day. Grace has been going through an I want my mommy stage.

In the works right now:

A hot pink and lime green scarf with stripes the long way. And by long, I mean long…this thing measures almost 7 feet! It’s crocheted using 100% cotton yarn. Hopefully it will be in the shop by tomorrow. Here’s the progress so far. Never mind that the color is off. I can’t get a decent picture in my house with the flash on or off.

Here are the t-shirt pants that I have put together so far. I have more that are cut out, they’re just waiting to be sewn after the kids go to bed.

I raided my closet yesterday to find all of the old t-shirts that no longer fit me or that I just didn’t like anymore. I used this tutorial to make a couple pair of pants for Grace. I also used an old t-shirt to make a shirt for her too. Today, I used some scrap fabric and this tutorial to make a pair of pink cordoury pants for her.

Looks like she won’t need pants for a while.
